Zine & vid submissions are open for FanWorks. Plus: content note updates for 2020!

Submissions are now open for the 2020 con zine and vidshows!

Works can be submitted on the FanWorks dashboard when logged in. For a full list of 2020 vidshows and vidshow submission guidelines, read our vidshows announcement post here. Information on zine submissions can be found here.

The set of standard content notes for 2020 has expanded. While we continue to fine tune our policies, the standard content notes may expand or change slightly from year to year. This year, we've added both new content notes and new functionality to the submission form, so that details can be provided individually for physical and audio triggers.

Content notes may overlap with one another; in some cases, content notes covering similar kinds of content are provided separately for clarity, nuance, and to better highlight specific kinds of content as needed. When you fill out the submission form, choose any and all tags you feel apply to your work.

The full list of standard content notes for 2020 is:

  • Choose not to give content notes
  • No standard content notes apply
  • Physical triggers (with text box for details)
  • Audio triggers (with text box for details)
  • Major character death
  • Sexual content
  • Underage sex
  • Graphic violence
  • Sexual violence
  • Slavery
  • Animal harm
  • Child harm
  • Body image and eating disorders
  • Alcohol or drug use
  • Self harm
  • Suicide
  • Depictions of bigotry, hate crimes, and systemic oppression (with text box for details)
  • Other (with text box for details)
  • I am submitting for someone else and no content notes are available

Four of the content notes, when ticked, will pop out text boxes for further details. “Other” can also take additional information for any content note that does not have its own text box.

There is a usage guide for content notes here on the FanWorks website, with examples and descriptions of what kinds of content might fit each note. We’ve done our best to make this clear and helpful; we encourage everyone to read over the content notes page before submitting works for 2020.
