Registration is open for the FanWorks minicon!

The minicon is Saturday, April 9th, 2022. This is a limited online event to fundraise for FanWorks Chicago 2022. The minicon will have all the things we love from our virtual cons - Discord, panels, vidshows, games - in a one-day format.

You can read more info on minicon programming and the fundraiser here.

Registration starts at $10. All registration fees are donations to the con fundraiser; if you want to write in a higher amount to make a larger donation, you can do that at registration. (This is completely optional; $10 gets you in the door!)

Vid submissions are also open for the April minicon! You can submit vids through the FanWorks dashboard when logged in (or click here to go directly to the submissions page).

The full list of vidshows, submission guidelines, & deadlines are here. As a quick reminder of the shows you can submit to:

Premieres: Vids that haven't shown anywhere else

Made for Myself & I Did It!!: Themed shows that vidders can submit their own (previously released) vids to - the only requirement is that vids fit the theme!

If you want to send suggestions to Spring or The One (themed shows that are not taking submissions), you have until the end of the day Friday, February 25th to get those in. Spring vid suggestions form // The One suggestions form

If you have any questions about vid submissions, you can email us at fanworksvidtech@gmail.com.

Register for FanWorks 2021

Registration for the 2021 virtual con is now open! The con will be happening online October 1 - 3, 2021.

Registration costs $20, which covers the cost of paid virtual platforms used during the con and helps off-set the annual costs of existing as a con until we can get back in person.

You can register here: https://fanworkscon.com/register/

Submissions are now open for the 2020 con zine and vidshows!

Works can be submitted on the FanWorks dashboard when logged in. For a full list of 2020 vidshows and vidshow submission guidelines, read our vidshows announcement post here. Information on zine submissions can be found here.

The set of standard content notes for 2020 has expanded. While we continue to fine tune our policies, the standard content notes may expand or change slightly from year to year. This year, we've added both new content notes and new functionality to the submission form, so that details can be provided individually for physical and audio triggers.

Content notes may overlap with one another; in some cases, content notes covering similar kinds of content are provided separately for clarity, nuance, and to better highlight specific kinds of content as needed. When you fill out the submission form, choose any and all tags you feel apply to your work.

Full list of standard content notes for FanWorks 2020 )

There is a usage guide for content notes here on the FanWorks website, with examples and descriptions of what kinds of content might fit each note. We’ve done our best to make this clear and helpful; we encourage everyone to read over the content notes page before submitting works for 2020.

Sunday, July 7th at 11:59PM Eastern is the deadline for vid submissions to Premieres, Variations: Ignite, and for any auction vids making their debut at the con.

Some things to keep in mind as the deadline approaches:

- Attending members are given priority for Premieres. If the show runs over time, non-attending vidder submissions may be shown in other timeslots. If you are not yet registered and want to submit as an attending member, make sure you are registered to attend the con by the vid submission deadline on Sunday.

- There is a Saturday morning Vid Discussion panel to talk about vids that debuted in Premieres. This is optional -- if you want to send a vid in without it being included in Vid Discussion, you can do that! On the submission form, look for the tick box directly under "vidshow" to control whether or not your vid is included in Vid Discussion.

- If you have any last-minute tech, health, or life crises, please email fanworksvidtech@gmail.com sooner rather than later to ask for a deadline extension. We can't guarantee extensions on vids, but will do our best to help if there are extenuating circumstances.

Tonight is the deadline to submit to the Introductions, The Year in Vids, and Saturday Morning Cartoons vidshows! Vids must be submitted by midnight Eastern time. Submission instructions are here.

Introductions is limited to attendee submissions only, but you do not have to be an attendee to submit to Year in Vids or Saturday Morning Cartoons. Vidders can submit up to 2 solo vids or 3 vids if including a collab. (Any collabs count for both/all vidders.) If you submit more than one vid, make sure to indicate priority order when filling out the submission form, as we may not be able to include more than first priority vids if submissions are high.

If you run into any tech or other problems submitting vids, please email us at fanworksvidtech@gmail.com.
