It's almost time for FanWorks! (Some of you may already be in the hotel lobby at this very moment!) But once you get there, how do you find the con space?
Today's final post on con prep is a guide to finding the con's panel rooms and event space.
Part One: Food Options
Part Two: Don't Forget to Bring ...
Part Three: The Con Space
*
The hotel is a large space, and new spaces can be intimidating! To make things a little easier, here's a guide for finding the con space in the hotel. Please note that this isn't an exhaustive guide to space; if you have any accessibility questions about the space, please email access@fanworkscon.com.
Con space room lists and locations are included in the program book.
Images in this post are scaled down for Dreamwidth and can be opened to view larger sizes.

First Floor Lobby & Pool
Entrance

The hotel entrance has automatic sliding doors. There are rugs on the floor on either side of entrance.
As you come in, the reception desk will be to your right, with the atrium lobby directly ahead of you.
Lobby

The hotel lobby is in a seven-story atrium. The lobby are tables, couches, a full service bar, and the Connections restaurant (sit at a table near the bar and a server will approach you).
The lobby also has a beautiful pool and hot tub:

First Floor Con Space
If you walk through the lobby, past the bar and the tall staircase, you will wind up in (roughly) this area:

Directly ahead is the Cultivate restaurant, which is the hotel's breakfast restaurant. (That's where the breakfast buffet included with con block rooms is served.)

The elevators will be to the right or left of you, depending on which side of the lobby you come through on.

These are the main elevators for the entire hotel. There are three of them: two atrium-facing with glass panels, and one interior-facing with no window/panels.
Just beyond the restaurant and the elevators is the first floor con space.

Rooms in this space are:
Salon 1: Audio panels
Salon 2: Information desk, swap table, DIY panel sign ups, audio recording room reservations
Salon 3: DIY panels
Boardroom: Audio recording room
Registration will take place in the Salon prefunction area on Thursday at 7:00pm. All other events will be on the third floor.

Third Floor Con Space
The third floor can be reached either by elevators or by the large open staircase up from the lobby.

(Please note that if your room is on the second floor, this staircase won't get you there - it goes directly up to the third floor.)
Whichever way you come up to the 3rd floor, you will find yourself on Metro Terrace, the large pre-function area outside the 3rd floor con space.

Once you've reached Metro Terrace, you've reached the con space.

Rooms on the third floor are:
Metro 1 - Community panels
Metro 2 - Writing panels
Metro 3 + 4 - Art & Crafting panels
Metro 5 + 6 - Video panels
Metro 7 + 8 - Vidshow & event room
Not all doors will be unlocked during panels. This map shows which doors will access panel rooms:

(There will be heavy duty cable ramps over all cords that come past doorways.)
The hall around the Metro Ballroom branches off Metro Terrace in an L-shape.

To get to the vidshow room in Metro 7 + 8, for example, you would go down the hallway, take a right at the L, and go down to the door for Metro 7:

All doors will be clearly labeled with their room names (Community, Writing, Art, Video, Vidshow, Audio, Info Desk, etc.). Locked doors will be clearly labeled as locked. Locked doors can still be opened from the inside in case of emergency; they only lock from the outside.
Sparkle Motion
During night time events (starting each night at 8:00PM), Metro Ballroom room configurations will change depending on the event. Most of these changes will be small, but for Sparkle Motion, there will be a variety of 3rd floor spaces:

During Sparkle Motion, Metro 2 (purple room) will be emptied out to serve as a walkway to the dance floor directly from Metro Terrace, so going all the way around won't be required (but you still can!). Glowsticks will likely be set up in the alcove at the L of the hallway, outside Metro 6.
We encourage you to check out all of the spaces during Sparkle Motion. Metro 1 (beige room) will be bright and shiny with a photo backdrop for taking pictures; Metro 3 (green room) will be decorated on a theme, with dimmer, atmospheric lighting. Metro 5 - 8 (teal room) will be darker and lit for dancing (with lights that do not strobe). On the first floor in Salon 1, a designated sober space will be open during Sparkle Motion.

Con Suite
The con suite will be located in 926. When stepping into the 9th floor hallway from the elevators, it should be to the right.
Due to space limitations, the con suite isn't huge; it's meant as a hospitality suite to socialize (or just hang out and do your thing) and get a beverage. Think of it as your FanWorks living room.

Beverages will be set up in the kitchenette on the far back right of the picture. This picture was taken in a sample suite, and the layout may not be exact to ours (plus we may slightly rearrange furniture to make it easier to move around).
